Grainger Timber Frames and the environment...

COntruction of internal number 10Wood is effectively a carbon-neutral material, therefore a timber frame has the lowest CO2 cost of any commercially available building material.

Timber is an organic, non-toxic material and one of the most naturally renewable of building materials.  All our timber is obtained from FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) where more trees are planted than harvested every year.  Estimates suggest that every cubic metre of wood used instead of other building materials saves 0.8 tonnes of CO2 from polluting the atmosphere.

Once completed a timber framed house will be more energy efficient than one of traditional construction, with year on year savings on energy bills.
